What is a subdomain?

A subdomain is a domain that is part of another domain. For example, if a domain offered an online store as part of their website example.com, it might use the subdomain shop.harmonweb.com.

The subdomain is separated from the main domain by a dot (.). In the example above, the subdomain is "shop" and the main domain is "harmonweb.com".
